Public Health England North West Centre is looking to appoint a responsible and enthusiastic health professional; knowledge and interest in health protection is desirable. This vacancy provides an ideal opportunity to gain experience in the field of health protection.
The post-holder will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team and part of an acute response service which involves dealing with a range of health protection issues on a daily basis. The post is mainly office-based and will focus on the surveillance, prevention, investigation and control of communicable disease, and other threats to health (e.g non-infectious environmental hazards) across the North West.
The post-holder will be required to negotiate and influence sensitive decision making on an individual and organsational level. Applicants should therefore be experienced and capable of communicating with a wide range of partner organisations, including healthcare professionals, other stakeholders and the general public. You will have a good knowledge of clinical issues and terminology. The role includes supporting the Senior Health Protection Practitioner in delivering a high quality and sustainable acute response service. The post-holder will also be expected to develop specialist knowledge in health protection. Out-of-hours on-call duty will be required once training has been provided; appropriate financial remuneration is provided for on call duty as per terms and conditions of contract.
