Location: The successful applicants will be based at one of our offices in Eastleigh or Portsmouth, but may be deployed to our court centres where there is ability to work remotely.
Senior Crown Prosecutor - CPS Wessex - External - WESS1096
The CPS Wessex region consists of the counties of Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of White and Wiltshire.
Chief Crown Prosecutor Joanne Jakymec is the head of CPS Wessex, supported by Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor Nicola Haywood.
They are supported by an Area Business Manager who has responsibility for Business and Operational Delivery functions across the region.
We currently employ over 200 members of staff, including lawyers, paralegals, administrators and specialist staff.
Our senior management team, business centre, and crown court teams are based in Eastleigh. Our magistratesā court teams are based in Portsmouth. We also have a team of in-house advocates and support staff covering courts across the three counties.
Our Senior Crown Prosecutors are responsible for the delivery of high quality casework. The role is challenging and varied with prosecutors giving early pre charge advice to investigators across the three constabularies (including when suspects are in custody), personally representing the CPS and doing the advocacy in court and dealing with all aspects of case progression through to the conclusion of the case. Prosecutors work across all crime types and going forward CPS Wessex will be taking on additional specialist fraud responsibilities.
We are looking for flexible individuals, who could be deployed across various aspects of the work. The successful applicants may be asked to move between teams to develop skills in other areas of our work.
