Business Support Officer- Operations
Forestry England manages the nationâ€™s forest with a mission to connect everyone with them by creating and caring for our forests for people to enjoy, wildlife to flourish and businesses to grow. The National Operations team covers both Forestry & Land Management and Recreation & Visitor Experience functions across England. The teamâ€™s purpose is to ensure the effective management of the Public Forest Estate and ensure income from both timber and recreation to further the organisationâ€™s mission.
The role of the National Operations Business Support team is to provide comprehensive business support for the whole of the National Operations team. The wider National Operations team continues to grow and, as the variety of work covered by the team expands substantially in scope, extra Business Support resource is now needed.
The work required of the Business Support Officer will include travel, conference and meeting bookings; administration for Forestry Englandâ€™s car parking systems, timber sales and wildlife management systems; basic contract administration; financial administration support and wider, ad hoc administrative support to the team where required.
This post will sit within the National Operations Business Support team and will report to the Business Support Manager. The post will be based in the National Office for England in Bristol.
Key Work Areas
Meetings, Travel and Conference bookings - provide a high level of support to members of the National Operations team in organising and planning travel arrangements; arranging and booking meetings or conferences, including drafting of agendas and minute-taking in some cases.
Car Parking Administration - Provide administrative support for the key, national car parking systems including data collection; ongoing support for the contract manager(s) and income/expenditure management and monitoring.
Forestry & Timber Sales Administration - Use of the timber Sales Recording Package, providing assistance to Forest District colleagues as well as maintaining and updating the system on behalf of National Operations colleagues. Working closely with colleagues across England.
Wildlife Management Administration - Use and update of the Wildlife Management online venison sales recording package and broader administrative tasks on behalf of Wildlife colleagues, including collection of data and monitoring of police letter returns.
Financial Administration support - using the internal eFinancials system at a basic level for support tasks including raising of purchase orders and arranging payment of invoices
Wider Support Role - Working as a key member of the Business Support team to support both the wider National Operations team and Forest District colleagues with ad hoc requests which could include updating and maintaining guidance documents; data-gathering; running reports; records and files reviews and monitoring of the teamâ€™s adherence to various policy and guidance such as that for â€˜Driving at Workâ€™.
